The original land grant was to a woman, Martina Castro, which is a way better start than most towns in California. Soquel has had more than its share of floods and precisely its share of Acid Tests. Tonight’s poster by Alexandra Fischer pays homage to that very first Acid Test, but also reveals a little known element of Soquel’s history: the annual chariot race. The race features angels and demons quietly racing up Main Street in the wee hours, unobserved and unmolested. The angels always win because that is how we roll here in Soquel.
