According to Moonalice legend, we are gathered tonight to celebrate freedom ... specifically one specific freedom - the freedom to use cannabis. Cannabis figured directly in the drafting of the Declaration of Independence 238 years ago. Everyone knows the Declaration was written on hemp paper. But history does not tell the full story. This is where the Moonalice Legend saves the day. Tonight's poster by Chris Shaw shows Ben Franklin, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson hard at work. Close inspection reveals a bong and a large pile of nugs on the table, a doobie in Jefferson's hand, an empty Cheetos bag and the remains of a pizza on the floor ... exactly the ingredients one would want when composing the most important political document in our country's history. The moral of the story is obvious, isn't it? Our country was at its best when cannabis was legal.
