Return to the Beginning

Return to the Beginning

I wrote this the night of my first Moonalice show. I didn't know any of you then and now some of you are my Best Friends so I wanted to share it with you.

doin what i do best

Its a long, long time since I had Chemistry with a band.I enjoyed dancing with Nightsage when I was with them, but there is a difference between that kind of performance art and getting Down and spontaneously Communicating with a bunch of musicians. I had it with the Dead, of course but never got to actively share the experience with the band directly. I did with John Cipollina & the various bands he played with.
Last night with MoonaliceIi felt like I was home. Having never seen them before there was still that thing that makes me know what happens *next* in the music and I can catch it and play with it and give it directly back to the source. Although when Pete Sears is playing bass my body doesn't know whether to follow Barry on guitar or Pete on bass!

Well last night I was directly in front of the stage and I was somehow given the space I needed to do what I do with no conflict, no collisions & a high degree of cooperation. Even the bands' photographer (that was Glenn, on handheld vido, actually) & I managed to do our things side-by-side with respect for each others' space, this is extremely rare and we sure thanked each other.

It was a charmed night. And my gods, Steve Parrish is some kinda Energy Worker! He laid his hands on my head and I felt jets of energy shooting up the front of my spine. It was lovely, after all these years, to meet & Talk to & be Healed by someone I kinda feared for a long time-back in the day when I was running around backstage without a pass!

This band has taken the practice of Generosity to a very high place. I am so blessed that Roger so actively encouraged me to show up, that I had all the SpaceIi really needed, that I felt so welcome & included. To be able to get back to that place where I am laughing and crying and dancing all together.

And the last interaction of the evening, as I walked out the door. A guy who was at the other bar & hadn't been in for the music asked me "aren't you a Dancer?" Why yes. " I think you dance with my friend Chris's band" Whoa. This guy saw me dance with Nightsage 13 months ago at my first gig with them. Where nobody ever saw my real hair as i was wearing the amazing color-changing wig. But he remembered me!

So anyway, I don't know why I managed to resist seeing these guys for so long. I guess it was because I knew I would fall in Love and have to see this band again, as often as possible.

Thank you, Chubby Wombat Moonalice. Now you're stuck with me. Still are, 34 shows later!
