HTML 5: The Next Big Thing for Content by Roger McNamee

“Hypertext Mark-up Language 5 (HTML 5) is just a programming language.” A famous investor said this to me 18 months ago. The statement is true, especially if you delete the word “just.” But it misses the point.

As programming languages go, HTML 5 may be unusually disruptive. Not only is it the platform for the next generation web, HTML 5 is likely to be the foundation for Hyperweb services on the Hypernet, which encompasses not the web, but also the app model and whatever new technologies emerge in the online world.

Moonalice single is first to go multi-platinum from a band’s own servers

For Immediate Release:

On the afternoon of April 20, 2012, Bay area band Moonalice went boldly where no band has gone before when its signature single, "It's 4:20 Somewhere" passed 2 million downloads from the band’s website. The feat is remarkable considering that the band has no label, no manager or publicist.

The Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame has certified "It's 4:20 Somewhere" as the only platinum single - one million downloads - from a band's own servers. It is now the first multi-platinum single from a band's servers.

Moonalice at Yale: Master Class/Concert with Slide Deck

According to Moonalice legend, Yale University invited Roger McNamee and Moonalice to teach a master class about how we use technology to build our tribe. We set up the band on the stage at the Yale's Off-Broadway Theater, did a sound check and then waited for 125 students and faculty members to take their seats. Roger delivered a special version of his Ten Hypotheses entitled "Build A Band Workshop", complete with advice for any band - or creative person - who wants to follow a similar path. Enjoy . . .

Moonalice at Yale!!!

According to Moonalice legend, the band taught a class at Yale today. We're not kidding. Roger showed the Yale students how we use technology to build the Moonalice tribe. He created a special version of his Ten Hypotheses deck - entitled "Build A Band Workshop" - to enable any creative person to learn from our experience. Then we played a show to demonstrate everything we do. It was HUGE fun. Check it out . . .
