According to Moonalice legend, today is Tricycle Day. If this is the first time you have heard of Tricycle Day, you are not alone. It was a recent discovery in the Moonalice Legend. Even though the tricycle was invented in 1680 and enjoyed a massive craze in England in the 1880s, tricycles never had a day of their own. Until now. As far as we can tell, the missing ingredient was weed. We have some. You have some. And now we have Tricycle Day. Appropriately, it comes the day before Bicycle Day, which commemorates Dr Albert Hoffmann’s first experience with LSD.
Today’s poster by Chris Shaw depicts Dickie Moonalice, a flaming tricycle who joins us tonight with his pal Shroomy. With this poster we honor the memory of the great Dickie Betts, who passed away yesterday at the age of 80.
We also want to reiterate our welcome to the folks attending tonight who were originally planning to be a Skull & Roses. To borrow a quote attributed to the late Hunter S. Thompson, “The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.”
Notes: Mookie Siegel played keyboards.
